Notifications on your phone
What the apps notify you about, how to choose where you hear about it, and what to check when alerts do not arrive.
The apps tell you when something needs you: a payment came in or failed, a refund was issued, or a request is waiting for your approval. Each notice lands in an inbox in the app, and it can also reach your phone as an alert. You choose which ones, for each workspace you belong to.
Allow alerts
The first time you sign in, the app asks to send you notifications. On Android 13 and later it asks the first time you open the app after signing in. Tap Allow.
If you said no, or turned them off later, the app tells you on its Notifications screen that alerts cannot reach you. Tap Open Settings there and turn on notifications for BillingMart. The inbox in the app keeps working either way.
See your notifications
- Tap More, then Notifications.
- A dot marks the ones you have not read.
- Tap one to open what it is about, such as the invoice, the request in Approvals, or your payment links. Some notices open the matching page on the website.
- Tap Mark all read to clear the dots.
Payments, approvals and reminders for you appear here. The Notifications tile under More shows a count of what you have not read.
Choose what you hear about
On the same screen, under Where you hear about it, there are four groups.
| Group | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Activity in this workspace | Payments received or failed, refunds, approvals waiting. |
| Reminders | Dated nudges, such as your trial ending. |
| Plan suggestions | When a bigger plan would fit how you work. |
| News from BillingMart | Product news and offers. Off until you turn it on. |
Each group has three switches:
- Inbox: the list in the app. For Activity this is always on.
- Devices: an alert on your phone.
- Email: a message to your confirmed email address.
These are your own choices for the workspace you are in. They do not change what your team sees.
What an alert says
An alert is short. For an approval it says Approval needed and the kind of request, with no amount or details. Open the app to see the rest. See Approve requests on your phone.
If you are a customer with a confirmed contact, you get an alert when a business sends you a bill. Tap it to view and pay.
Alerts on Android
Android also lets you mute a group from the system's notification settings. Each group has its own channel, so you can silence Reminders and keep Activity.
If alerts do not arrive
- Check that notifications are on for BillingMart in your phone's Settings.
- Check that Devices is on for the group on the Notifications screen.
- Make sure you are signed in. When you sign out, the phone stops getting alerts for your account.
- Open the app once. It registers your phone each time you sign in.
